Why This Reference Exists
Printed Montgomery directories became historical sources, while the public records behind them were divided among different keepers. Property ownership is held by the Montgomery County Revenue Commissioner and Judge of Probate. Voter evidence follows Alabama law. Older volumes and microfilm are found through the Montgomery City-County Public Library and Alabama Department of Archives and History. We bring the verified portals, office contacts, coverage limits, and access methods into one Montgomery reference.
What Readers Can Find
- Different search angles: the Montgomery street directory for address records, the city directories for historical volumes, and the resident lookup for one-person research
- Custodians and rolls: property, recording, elections, courts, vital records, library, and archive sources
- Practical methods: tracing a street, decoding an old entry, and following a dated household trail
- Access boundaries: what Alabama law opens, what remains restricted, and when a focused records request is needed
Limits on Our Role
This is a privately operated reference site. It has no connection to Montgomery, Montgomery County, Alabama, any court, or any library. These limits apply:
- We do not confirm whether a named person currently lives in Montgomery
- We cannot retrieve, certify, amend, or interpret a government record for a reader
- We have no power to add or remove a person from an official roll
- We do not provide legal advice about records or disputes
- We cannot guarantee that a portal, fee, coverage year, or office detail has not changed
Only the office holding a record can confirm, certify, or correct it. Nothing found through this site may support credit, employment, tenant, insurance, or another FCRA-regulated decision.
